This enchanting project is situated at the heart of the forest in Gelderland, Netherlands, surrounded by a panoramic view of the river and floodplains. Making perfect use of this picturesque and diverse landscape, Grand & Jonson have cleverly designed the property so that each space displays and showcases a different vista. This was the foundation for the architectural plans, to create a different feel with every view.

Reflecting the playful irregularities of nature, one side of the property’s façade is clad in smoked ash panels of different widths and sizes. This cladding continues inside, although smoother and more refined, connecting the interior with the surrounding forest and bringing the outside in. The warm brown tone of the ash creates a sense of security and tranquillity, and forms a stunning contrast with the contemporary glass fronts and hard tiled flooring.

 Combining these carefully selected natural materials with minimalist furniture and timeless lighting, the interiors are in perfect harmony with the surrounding woodland. Three CTO Lighting collections, in rich bronze and satin brass finishes, have been used throughout the property. The Heron Floor Light, Ring Pendant and Ring Table Light reflect the clear architectural lines of the property and echo the linear pattern.

Championing quality and craftsmanship, each fritted glass disc of the Nimbus Chandelier is highly unique, skilfully handmade and finished by our artisans. Sculptural when off, the organic glass discs softly diffuse the light when on, creating a mesmerising lighting effect. Suspended low, close to the table in the kitchen-diner, this pendant creates a welcoming and intimate atmosphere that is perfect to dine by.
